We Eat Well is a place to share recipes that people actually cook for the people they love. These guidelines cover everything you share with others in the app: the recipes you publish, your photos, your profile and your public collections.

Anything you keep private stays yours. The guidelines apply as soon as something is public.

Recipes you publish

A published recipe can be found, saved and cooked by everyone, so make sure someone else could follow it.

  • List every ingredient. We Eat Well works out a recipe’s dietary tags (such as Vegan, Gluten-Free or Nut Free) and nutrition from its ingredients. A missing or wrong ingredient can label a recipe as safe for someone when it isn’t.
  • Give amounts for everything. Use weights where you can, so the nutrition and shopping list come out right.
  • Write a complete method. Every step someone needs, in the order they do it.
  • Share your own recipes, or ones you have permission to share. Don’t copy recipes, photos or text from cookbooks, websites or other creators.
  • Credit your inspiration. If a recipe is based on someone else’s, add a credit link to the original.
  • Keep it about food. Recipes are for cooking, not for advertising products, services or other sites.

Photos

Photos may be reviewed before they appear publicly.

  • Upload photos you took, or ones you have the right to use.
  • Show the dish. Recipe and method photos should be of the food and how it’s made.
  • No people in photos without their permission, and no photos of children other than your own.
  • Nothing offensive, violent, explicit or misleading.

Profiles, collections and following

Your profile name, bio, photo and cover image, and the names of your public collections, are seen by everyone.

  • Be yourself. Don’t pretend to be another person, creator or brand.
  • Keep names, bios and collection names friendly and appropriate for all ages.
  • No advertising, links to unrelated sites, or requests to follow, buy or sign up elsewhere.
  • Follow the cooks you enjoy. Don’t use following, saving or new accounts to game the app.

Customising other people’s recipes

You can customise any public recipe to suit your household. Your copy starts private and keeps a link back to the original, so its creator is always credited.

  • Change whatever you like in your own copy.
  • Only publish a customised recipe if you’ve genuinely made it your own. Don’t republish someone else’s recipe with small changes.

Privacy and safety

  • Don’t put personal details (phone numbers, addresses, email addresses) in recipes, collections or your bio, whether they’re yours or someone else’s.
  • If something looks wrong, such as a recipe with incorrect allergy information, a stolen recipe or an inappropriate photo, report it in the app or contact us. We look at every report.

If the guidelines aren’t followed

Most problems are honest mistakes, and we’ll usually just fix or hide the content and let you know.

  • We may make a recipe or collection private until it’s fixed, or remove it.
  • We may remove photos, or change profile details that break these guidelines.
  • For serious or repeated breaches, we may permanently disable the account and its access to We Eat Well.

Questions and changes

These guidelines will change as We Eat Well grows, so check back from time to time. If you have a question or a suggestion, get in touch with us.
