Recipe Ingredient-Based Recipe Sponsorship

Put your brand where the cooking happens

Most food advertising guesses what people might want to eat. We Eat Well works differently. With ingredient-based sponsorship, your brand appears on recipes that actually use your product. If someone is making a dish that calls for your ingredient, they see you at the moment they need it.

How it works

Each recipe on We Eat Well is made up of structured ingredients, not just a block of text. That lets us match sponsors to recipes by what’s in them.

When you set up a sponsorship, you tell us which ingredients it relates to. Whenever someone opens a recipe, we check its ingredients against active sponsorships. If a recipe is a match, your sponsored content appears alongside it.

You never have to pick recipes one by one. As new recipes are added or existing ones are updated, any that match your ingredients become eligible automatically.

Choosing your ingredients

You can set two kinds of ingredient rules:

  • Required ingredients: every one of these must be in the recipe. Use them when your product only makes sense with a particular ingredient. For example, a pasta sauce brand might require pasta.
  • Matching ingredients: the recipe needs at least one of these. Use them to cover a group of related ingredients. For example, a dairy brand might match on milk, cream, butter or cheese.

You can use both together. For example, “must contain chicken, and at least one of lemon, garlic or thyme” targets a particular style of dish very precisely.

Where and how it appears

  • It sits on the recipe page, directly above the ingredients list.
  • When a recipe opens, the app checks for a matching sponsorship. If there is a match, the app loads the image first and then slides the card in, so users never see a half-loaded advertisement.
  • We can serve several different templates, so let us know what you have in mind.

How links work

  • Tapping anywhere on the sponsorship opens the link, not just the button.
  • The link opens in an in-app browser. Users stay inside We Eat Well and can close it to get back to their recipe to keep your brand integrated smoothly.
  • If a campaign has no link, tapping it does nothing and doesn’t count as an opened link.
  • It’s a plain URL, so it can point anywhere: a brand’s site, a product page, an article and so on.

Measuring performance

For each piece of sponsored content we track:

ServedWhen the app finds the sponsorship for a recipe
CapturedWhen the card has visibly showed on the recipe page, after its image loads. This means it was drawn on the page, but the user may not have scrolled to it.
OpenedWhen a user taps the sponsored content, and it has a link to open.

We can provide reports of these interactions as often as you need with live, up-to-date numbers.

Fair rotation

If several sponsorships match the same recipe, we rotate between them so each one gets a fair share of views. One campaign won’t take over the others.

Campaign scheduling

Each sponsorship runs between a start date and an end date that you choose. It only appears during that window. Campaigns can also be paused and resumed at any time, which suits seasonal launches, promotions and limited-time offers.

Transparency for our community

We believe in being open with the people who cook with us. Paid sponsorships are clearly labelled as Sponsored. Sometimes we also feature brands we’ve chosen to partner with free of charge, and those placements aren’t labelled as sponsored because no payment is involved.

Why it matters

  • Relevant: your brand only appears next to recipes that use your product.
  • Timely: you reach people while they’re planning, shopping for or cooking the dish.
  • Effortless: matching happens automatically as the recipe library grows.
  • Non-intrusive: sponsored content fits naturally into the cooking experience.
