Terms and Conditions for We Eat Well

Last updated: 19/10/2026

These terms are an agreement between you and We Eat Well (WE EAT WELL LIMITED, New Zealand), the people behind the We Eat Well app and websites. By creating an account or using We Eat Well, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use We Eat Well.

In these terms, “we” and “us” means We Eat Well, and “you” means anyone using it.

Using We Eat Well

We Eat Well lets you find, create, customise and share recipes, save them to collections, follow other cooks, and plan your meals.

  • It’s free. If we ever introduce paid features, we’ll tell you beforehand, and you won’t be charged without agreeing first.
  • You must be 16 or older. If you’re under 16, you can use We Eat Well only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms for you.
  • It’s for personal use. Using We Eat Well or its content for a business, such as catering, coaching or reselling recipes, needs our written permission.

Your account

  • Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your password private. If you sign in with Google, Facebook or Apple, keep that account secure too.
  • You’re responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
  • One person per account. Don’t create accounts for someone else, or to get around a suspension.

Your content

You own the recipes, photos and other content you add to We Eat Well. Private content stays private, and we only use it to run your account.

When you publish a recipe, or make a collection or your profile public, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, copy, adapt (for example resizing photos or calculating nutrition) and share that content within We Eat Well and in promoting it. This licence continues after you delete your account for content you published, so recipes people have saved, planned or customised keep working.

Other people can save your published recipes and make their own customised copies, which always link back to your original.

You confirm that you have the right to share everything you publish, and that it doesn’t break anyone’s copyright, privacy or other rights.

Rules for using We Eat Well

Everything you share must follow our community conduct guide. You also agree not to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else to;
  • post content that is offensive, harassing, misleading, or that you don’t have the right to share;
  • pretend to be someone else;
  • spam, advertise, or use We Eat Well to promote other products or services without our permission;
  • copy, scrape or download content from We Eat Well in bulk, or access it with bots or automated tools;
  • interfere with, attack or try to get around the security of the app or our systems.

We can review, hide, make private or remove content that breaks these terms or the community conduct guide.

Recipes, dietary tags and nutrition

Most recipes on We Eat Well are shared by other people. We don’t test them, and we can’t promise they’re accurate, complete or will turn out as described.

Dietary tags (such as Vegan, Gluten-Free or Nut Free) and nutrition information are worked out automatically from each recipe’s ingredients. They are estimates only, and can be wrong if a recipe’s ingredients are incomplete or a product differs from the one listed.

  • If you have an allergy, intolerance or medical condition, always check the labels of the ingredients you use. Don’t rely on We Eat Well’s tags alone.
  • Nutrition information is general and isn’t medical or dietary advice. Talk to a health professional about your needs.
  • Follow safe food handling, storage and cooking practices.

Sponsored content

Some content in We Eat Well is provided or paid for by partners, such as featured products or recipes. We label it as sponsored. Partners are responsible for their own products and offers. We measure how sponsored content is viewed and used, but we don’t give partners your personal details.

Our content and the app

The We Eat Well app, websites, name, logo, design, ingredient catalogue and our own recipes and photos belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app and its content for your own cooking and meal planning, under these terms. You can’t copy, sell or republish our content or other people’s recipes outside We Eat Well without permission.

Points, achievements and invitations

Points, achievements and invitations are a fun part of using We Eat Well. They have no cash value, can’t be sold or transferred, and we can change or reset them. Only invite people you know who would want to hear from us, and only with their permission.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app. Your personal details are removed, and recipes and collections you published stay available under We Eat Well, as described in our privacy policy.

We can suspend or close your account, or remove content, if you break these terms or the community conduct guide, or if we have to by law. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it. We may also change or stop parts of We Eat Well, and if we ever close it entirely we’ll give you notice.

Liability and your rights under consumer law

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986 or other laws that can’t be excluded.

Apart from those rights, We Eat Well is provided as it is and as available. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that recipes, dietary tags or nutrition information are correct.

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by content other people share or by relying on dietary or nutrition information. Our total liability to you for anything to do with We Eat Well is limited to NZ$100.

Privacy, changes and contact

  • Privacy: our privacy policy explains how we collect, use and protect your information.
  • Changes: we may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and tell you in the app or by email about significant changes before they take effect. If you keep using We Eat Well after that, the new terms apply.
  • Governing law: these terms are governed by New Zealand law, and New Zealand courts can hear any dispute about them.
  • Contact: email hello@weeatwell.co.nz or use the contact form on our support site.
